LISBON -- The Lights on the River display will run from Dec. 15-23, this year at Lisbon Beach.
It features holiday light displays made by local businesses and families.
Entry is free, but donations are accepted with the proceeds benefiting local food banks and charities. Non-perishable food items are also accepted.
Since 2010, Lights on the River has raised over $115,000 and 33,000 pounds in food donations. These donations have been spread across 16 food pantries throughout the St. Lawrence County area, said the Lights on the River website.
The food pantries that will benefit from donations at the 2018 Lights on the River are:
Canton Church and Community, Canton Neighborhood Center, Gouverneur Neighborhood Center, Hammond Neighborhood Center, Heuvelton Food Pantry, Lisbon Food Pantry, Massena Neighborhood Center;
Norwood-Norfolk-Raymondville Outreach, Norfolk-Raymondville Food Pantry, New Beginnings in Madrid, Ogdensburg Neighborhood Center, Ogdensburg St. John’s Episcopal Food Pantry, Ogdensburg Salvation Army, Potsdam Neighborhood Center, Richville Food Pantry, Waddington Family and Resource Center.
This year will feature a new display “Our Angels in Heaven Stars.”
Anyone who would like to purchase a star in honor of a lost loved one can do so by following the instructions at this link http://lightsontheriver.org/our-angels-in-heaven-star-form/ . Stars cost a one time fee of $20.
Stars can be picked at the end of the event (December 24th through the January 1st) and brought back the following year.
