Larry J. Fayette, 75, Madrid

MADRID – A church service for 75-year-old Larry J. Fayette of Madrid, NY (formerly Norfolk, NY) will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Norfolk, with Jim Foote officiating. Larry passed away unexpectedly at home on March 7, 2024.

Larry was born on March 24, 1948 in Potsdam, NY, the son of the late Carlton and Irene Fayette. After his graduation from St. Lawrence Central School in 1965, he starting working at ALCOA Massena Operations and retired after 35 years in 2001. He was a six-year veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, member of the American Legion Post #925 and a past member of the St. Regis Hunting Club, Norfolk Fire Department and the Norfolk Minor Hockey Association.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Cathy, of 54 years and their four children. Chad (Beth) Fayette of Winthrop, Amy Fayette of Massena, Jeff (Bliss) Fayette of Theresa and Jenny (Tom) Charland of Essex Junction, VT. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, Ali (Rich) and Cole, Ashley and Andrew (Kaitlin), Jeremy (Meghan), Paige (Charles) and Brooke, and Lexi and Kennedy; seven great-grandchildren, Charles, Theodore, Evelyn, Ollie, Violet, Otis and Adam; one sister, Charlene (Russell) Perry of Norfolk; and a brother, Marshall (Merideth) Fayette (Florida); sisters-in-law, Gloria Ann (Ed) Payne, (Maryland), Carol Simons (Washington), Violet Simons (Canton) and the late Peggy Jenner; along with several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Jim (Fitzy).

Larry enjoyed riding his Harley, driving his Corvette, woodworking, hunting at camp in Santa Clara, playing softball, and watching all kinds of sports.  In accordance to the family’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A luncheon will follow the church service at the Norfolk American Legion. Burial will be at a later time.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Norfolk, NY or the Norfolk-Norwood Minor Hockey Association and memories and condolences may be shared online at www.buckfuneralhome.com .  The Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk is serving the family of Larry J.
