John W. Sharp, 76, formerly of Massena

GILFORD, NH ---- John William Sharp passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at his residence. 

He was born on November 4, 1947, in Massena, New York to the late Roy F. Sharp, Sr. and Gertrude (Pelotte) Sharp. 

John graduated from Holy Family High School, Class of 1965. He cherished the memories and friendships he made during this time.

John served his country in the US Army Reserves.

In his professional life, John worked for General Motors in his hometown of Massena, New York before later joining Granite Hill in Hooksett, New Hampshire, and lastly in retail at Irving Mainway.

John enjoyed watching sports, especially college football, doing jigsaw puzzles, and going for rides to the ocean and through the mountains.

John was a fighter and survivor, through and through as he was stricken with many illnesses in his lifetime, and had a strong will to live.

John is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Jane (Arquiett) Sharp; daughter, Kristina Francis and her husband, Patrick; and two grandsons, Cameron and Carter Monroe. He is also survived by his brothers, Roy F. Sharp, Jr. and his wife, Sharon, Jerry Sharp and his wife, Carol, and Dennis Sharp; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Sharon Griffin and her husband, Robert. In addition to his parents, John is predeceased by his sisters, Gertrude Ann Jessmer and Martha Lee Sharp; and brother, Phillip Patrick Sharp.

In accordance with John’s wishes, there will be no services. His body will be donated to Dartmouth School of Medicine.

For those who wish, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Granite VNA, 30 Pillsbury Street, Concord, NH 03301, Laconia Pediatrics Hospice, 780 N. Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246, or to a charity of one’s choosing, in John’s memory.
