Ironworkers Joint Apprenticeship Committee seeking recruits in North Country through Oct. 3

The Ironworkers Joint Apprenticeship Committee, Local Union #440 will seek recruits Sept. 30, 2013 through Oct. 3, 2014 for five ironworker apprentices.

Applications will be available at the office of Local Union #440, 801 Varick Street, second floor, Utica, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period.

Applications can also be obtained by calling the Union Hall at 735-4531. All applications must be received no later than Oct. 10.

The Committee requires that applicants:

Must be at least 18 years old.

Must have a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D).

Must be physically able to perform the work required of an ironworker, as determined by a post-offer of employment physical and a drug test administered by a physician.

Must be able to lift 30-100 lbs., climb, and work from heights in excess of 100 feet.

Must be a resident of Local #440’s jurisdiction, which includes all of St. Lawrence.

Must provide proof of their ability to work in the United States, if selected for the program.

Must provide proof of: diploma/GED, birth certificate, military transfer card or discharge form DD214 (if applicable), current certifications, driver’s license, and Social Security card, if selected for the program.
