CANTON – An inmate at the county jail was charged by the county sheriff’s department on Nov. 27 with second-degree criminal contempt and aggravated family offense, a class E felony.
Sheriff’s detective reports that on Nov. 16, Richard A. Christy, 23, allegedly phoned a woman who has a no contact order of protection against him.
Christy is currently serving a sentence for an earlier second-degree criminal contempt conviction handed down in Louisville town court on June 21. The aggravated family offense this time around is for the alleged repeat behavior following the earlier conviction for the same charge.
He was arraigned in Canton town court on these most recent charges and sent back to county jail. Bail for the new charges was set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
Christy still has to finish serving his current jail sentence for the June 21 conviction.
He is due in town court on Dec. 6 for the most recent counts.
