CANTON - Red Baraat, a band whose sound is described as a "dance party-ready mix of songs from the Punjabi and Bollywood traditions," will perform at St. Lawrence University Friday, Sept. 16, at 8 p.m. in The Underground.
The event is open to the public, free of charge. "D-n-B" is usually shorthand for "drum and bass," but for Red Baraat, it means the double-sided, barrel-shaped North Indian drum dhol and brass, plus percussion, a sousaphone and five horns, combining the infectious North Indian rhythm Bhangra with funk, go-go, Latin, and jazz.
