POTSDAM – The class “How Did the Artist Do That,” with instructor Dagmar Jauzens, will be held at the St. Lawrence County Arts Council, Snell Hall, 41 Elm St., Thursday, Oct. 19, from 2-4 p.m.
Have you ever looked at an artist’s work and wondered how the artist achieved a specific effect and how to achieve a similar effect in your work?
In this class, students will develop a vocabulary to appreciate and discuss the various works of art.
They will examine a variety of well-known representational paintings and analyze them for artist techniques, and explore various techniques to see how they may apply to one’s own work.
This will include learning about such elements as composition, perspective, texture, color, line. At the end students will produce a pencil sketch experimenting with the techniques learned in class.
The course will cost members $19 and non-members $24.
Pre-registration is required.
