A house at 177 North Woods Road, Hermon was totally destroyed by fire Friday night.
Canton and Pyrites fire departments responded at 5:26 p.m., and were back in service five hours later.
They were supported by the Russell, DeKalb, Hermon and Pierrepont volunteer departments. Elements of the Hermon, Rensselaer Falls and Richville departments were on standby.
The house was owned by Lawrence and Kathy Brown and occupied by Amber Brown and Matthew Foote.
The house was a total loss. Investigators said it was insured.
The cause of the blaze is still being looked into by investigators.
