To the Editor:
Helping Hands of Potsdam gratefully appreciates the food drive sponsored by North Country Savings Bank of Potsdam.
The food donations were received before Thanksgiving and helped fill holiday dinner baskets for 23 families in need.
Helping Hands is also grateful for the gift they received from Potsdam Central School’s Warm Wishes for the Holidays fund.
Each year during the Christmas season the Potsdam Central School faculty and staff contribute to Warm Wishes to help families stay warm through the cold winter months ahead. Through Helping Hands this donation reaches out into the Potsdam community assisting our neighbors in need with fuel costs.
Many thanks to the faculty and staff at PCS for their caring and generosity, and to the people at North Country Savings Bank.
The Potsdam Kiwanis Club collected many coats this season to distribute to people needing warm winter wear. The coats came in all sizes, children’s, women’s, men’s, and were donated by people throughout the Potsdam community. Helping Hands of Potsdam was a recipient of a mountain of clean, warm, wonderful coats to distribute to individuals in need of them. This mountain, even after several subsequent deliveries, has dwindled to a small pile. Thanks to the efforts of the Potsdam Kiwanis there are many, many people wearing winter coats who would not have been warm this winter. Many thanks from Helping Hands to the Kiwanis Club and all the people who supported their coat drive.
