Halloween events, author visit coming to Massena Public Library

MASSENA — A teen Halloween writing contest, pumpkin basket making class, and local author visit, are among the upcoming offerings at Massena Public Library.

Tales from Teens Scary Story Contest for ages 13-18 is offering gift cards and a posting on the library’s website for winners in three categories: Spookiest Library Setting, Best Poem and Biggest Plot Twist. Deadline for submission is by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27. For more info visit the library website.

A pumpkin basket class taught by Ann French will be held Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. until finished in the downstairs community room. Cost is $45. Call the library to register.

John Michaud, a Massena native and local history author, will discuss his new book, “A St. Lawrence Seaway Photo Album,” Oct. 25 at 6 p.m.. His talk will also feature another of his books, “Haunted Massena.”

”Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant” will be this month’s Friday Afternoon at the Movies event held on Friday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. in the library’s screening room.

The Library Book Club is back by popular demand and will meet Nov. 1 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss “Trust” by Hernan Diaz.
