GOUVERNEUR -- The Village of Gouverneur and Town of Gouverneur west and east side water districts water tank is expected to be offline for approximately one month beginning overnight on Sept. 13.
The village Department of Public Works (DPW) says residents may notice a loss of water pressure and a slight discoloration of the water. Although the water is safe to drink, residents are encouraged to be extra attentive when doing white laundry.
Also, beginning the morning of Sept. 14 a water conservation notice is being issued for all water customers served by the Village of Gouverneur Water Filtration Plant.
The DPW is asking water customers to be mindful of their water usage for approximately one month period. Some examples of water conservation include:
• Limit the amount of water used if watering your garden during the month.
• Refrain from watering your lawn during the month.
• Refrain from washing your vehicles during this time.
• Refrain from hosing down your driveway/sidewalk during the month.
• Refrain from any other unnecessary, substantial outdoor water usage.
To find out when the water conservation notice has been lifted, go to the village’s website www.villageofgouverneur.org and the information will be posted on the main page.
