GOUVERNEUR — A Gouverneur man was charged with possession of dangerous prison contraband Thursday stemming from an Oct. 12 complaint, according to state police.
Julian Lopez, 28, was charged with first-degree possession of dangerous prison contraband, felony, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance at 2:15 p.m. at the state police station, 1005 U.S. Highway 11, Canton.
Lopez, who was an inmate at the time, was being admitted into the special housing unit at the Gouverneur Correctional Facility when he was found in possession of six strips of suboxone.
He was sent back to jail and is to appear in Gouverneur court Feb. 2 to face the charge.
