DEKALB JUNCTION -- A GoFundMe page has been created soliciting donations for the family of a 13-year-old boy who died Wednesday, July 27, from injuries caused by a UTV accident.
Grant J. Woodrow, 13, died at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse while being treated for internal injuries and a broken femur, according to state police.
Troopers said Woodrow was operating a 2014 Polaris Ranger which overturned after making an abrupt right turn. The UTV overturned on its driver’s side coming to rest on top of Woodrow.
Woodrow was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital Tuesday night and then airlifted to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse by LifeNet of New York.
The page sought to raise $1,000 to aid the family during this tragic time. So far $4,590 has been raised by 91 people in one day.
The GoFundMe page was created by Sherry Brabaw. A statement on the GoFundMe page says:
“Life is fragile and precious. We all know this family in one way or another. Their pain will never be understood by many, and should not be. As they are sitting in disbelief, wondering, how is this possible, we as a community mourn for them. There is no true amount for a goal but if we could help ease the burden with any little amount I am sure it will be a tremendous feeling of relief for them.”
