AKWESASNE — The SRMT Water Resources Program notified the Akwesasne community Tuesday that the General Swim Advisory has been lifted for the St. Regis River and the Raquette River.
Results of water samples were returned this morning and indicate normal and safe levels for primary contact. The levels of pathogen indicator bacteria no longer pose a risk to public health, such as for coliform or e.coli.
The Tribe’s Water Resources program extends appreciation for your cooperation as they strive to ensure safe water levels for the community’s enjoyment; including for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, or other recreational purposes.
For any questions, please contact SRMT Water Resources Program Manager Tiernan Smith at (518) 358-2272 ext. 5073.
