BLACK LAKE -- Property owners on Black Lake can take advantage of self-testing septic system dye kits available free from the Black Lake Association.
“In our efforts to promote environmental stewardship of the lake, we decided to make these kits available free to Black Lake property owners so they can self-test their septic systems at their own discretion," association president Karen Winters said. "If there is a problem, they can budget and plan for improvements. Each of us has a stake in preserving the lake for ourselves and for future generations, whether we are year-around residents, business owners, seasonal residents or weekenders."
The free dye kits are available at the six town offices that encompass Black Lake: DePeyster, Hammond, Macomb, Morristown, Oswegatchie and Rossie.
Those taking the kits do not need to give a name or address.
Instructions are included.
