FOWLER -- A Gouverneur man was charged with arson Wednesday morning following the investigation of a fire first reported to state police Jan. 20.
Taylor B. Shampine, 23, was charged with third-degree arson at 4:36 a.m. at the police station, 1005 U.S. Highway 11, troopers said.
His arrest status was not made available.
On the date troopers say they launched their investigation, NorthCountryNow reported nearly 40 firefighters were called to battle a blaze at 727 Emeryville Road. Investigators said they believed it was arson. See story for more details.
