The St. Lawrence County Office of Emergency Services and local fire departments are urging residents and business owners to keep hydrants clear of snow and debris.
With more than a foot-and-a-half of snow fallen within the last several days, they are also reminding citizens of the importance of keeping driveways and sidewalks clear as well.
“Time is critical in the event of a fire or EMS call,” said Joe Lacks, county public fire safety officer. “By having driveways, sidewalks and hydrants clear of snow, first responders can work quicker and more efficiently by having clear paths to a structure or victim.”
