LAKE PLACID -- You can celebrate the fall season during the annual Flaming Leaves Festival, at the Olympic Jumping Complex, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 9-10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Activities include live Blues, barbeque food, lawn games for kids and adults, a horseshoe tournament, make your own tie dye t-shirt, craft vendors and some of the country's best ski jumpers flying off the 90-meter ski jump. Make sure to leave time to check out the autumn colors from atop the 120-meter ski jump. A chairlift will take visitors to the base of the jump, while a 26-story elevator ride will take them to the top of the jump where guests can overlook the Adirondack's high peaks, in every direction. Festival admission is $15 for adults and $9 for juniors and seniors. Two-day passes are also available, $25 for adults and $15 for juniors and seniors.
