POTSDAM -- Dr. Mae C. Jemison, the first African American woman to travel in space, will speak at Clarkson University to present "From Here to There and Back Again," on Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. in Cheel Arena.
Tickets can be purchased through Feb. 14 at http://clarksonathletics.com (click on Tickets/Events, then on Hockey Tickets on-line, and scroll down to "Dr. Mae Jemison") $10 for adults and $5 for kids. Tickets can also be purchased at the Cheel Box Office from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until Feb. 14. If any seats remain, tickets will also be sold at the event.
Jemison is a chemical engineer, scientist, physician, teacher and astronaut and has a wide range of experience in technology, engineering, and medical research.
She successfully completed her astronaut-training program in August 1988 and became the fifth black astronaut and the first black female astronaut in NASA history.
Jemison's presentation is sponsored by SPECTRUM, a student-based organization at Clarkson.
