FINE – A house trailer and garage have been declared a total loss following a fire reported only after remains of the structure were discovered smoldering.
According to St. Lawrence County fire investigators, the structure on Blue Mountain Road had been used as a hunting camp and was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
The St. Lawrence County 911 center received a report of the blaze at 10:30 p.m. Saturday from Fine Code Enforcement Officer Bernard English. He said the structure had been completely destroyed and was still smoldering.
Except for the chief of the Fine fire department, no firefighters responded to the scene, investigators said.
Owner of the property is unknown and cause of the blaze is under investigation, investigators said.
