OGDENSBURG - Frederic Remington Art Museum's executive director announced he will retire this year.
Ed LaVarnway, executive director since 2005, announced he retire after a successor has been selected and can work through an orientation and transition period.
“I will miss my colleagues and being among the wonderful Remington artworks and archival materials. After returning to the North Country my wife and I have enjoyed making new friends and getting involved in local cultural events," LaVarnway said.
"As exciting has been the stream of museum visitors from every US state, Canadian province and dozens of other countries. I want to especially thank the trustees and many museum volunteers who do so much for the institution.”
