COLTON -- Long-time community-oriented resident Dennis Eickhoff has been named this year’s winner of the Virginia Smith Citizen of the Year for the Town of Colton.
Eickhoff was surprised with the award at the Old Thyme Christmas event held Dec. 16 at the Colton Museum. Several of his friends and family were present to honor him.
The many accomplishments in his community include his volunteer work with the Colton Fire Department and FASNY, the Colton Historical Society, the C-P Raqueteers, and the St. Lawrence County Genealogical Society.
Eickhoff continues working as Colton Hepburn Library Director ( 2003-present), Town of Colton Historian (1992-present), Zoning Board of Appeals (2017-present), election inspector for Pierrepont (1992-present), and data collector for St. Lawrence Power and Equipment Museum in Madrid.
Dennis is a giver and helper by nature when it comes to his family, friends and community. He has always taken great pride in his town and has a great sense of humor.
His family includes his wife Linda, his daughter Rachael, and his granddaughter Adalynne.
