CANTON — An Edwards man who is an inmate at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility was charged with possession heroin while inside the jail, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.
Caleb J. Serrano, 23, was charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband felony and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Deputies allege that Serrano possessed heroin and a pill which is a Schedule 2 narcotic drug while he was an inmate.
He was arraigned in Pierrepont court by Judge Camp and remanded back to St. Lawrence County Jail without bail.
He is due back in court at a future date, officers said.
