Now that St. Lawrence County is going to increase the sales tax I will no longer be buying items locally. There is no ill will to the local vendors for they did not wish this upon themselves. The county legislature had failed to prioritize programs and cut spending. Instead they are just being cowards and raising taxes. I have a choice to where I buy my items and I will be buying them in New Hampshire where there is no sales tax. I realize that a one percent increase in tax is not much, but it’s the principle that has set me of. I will encourage all my friends and family to buy either out of area or via catalogs/internet so that this does not affect us directly.
