Dolores M. Lancto, 84, Massena

MASSENA -- Dolores M. Lancto, Age 84, formerly of Roosevelt Street, passed away peacefully at the Massena Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, where she had been a resident for the past 9 years.

The family has entrusted funeral arrangements to the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.

Friends and family are welcome to call the Phillips Memorial Home, located at 64 Andrews Street in Massena on Sunday afternoon, March 3, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024, at the Church of the Sacred Heart at 10:00 AM with Rev. Leagon Carlin officiating.

A burial will take place in Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk, NY in the spring.

Dolores was born on May 31, 1939, to her late parents Armond and Marie (Page) Hart.

Dolores graduated from Massena High School in 1957, and went on to attend beauty school, obtaining her license as a beautician.

Dolores had many skills that she utilized for employment over the years, including opening her own beauty shop in the family home, working as a nurse’s aide at the Potsdam Hospital, obtaining several secretarial jobs, and working as an Estee Lauder cosmetic representative at the BonTon in Massena Mall where she later retired.

Dolores married Philip H. Kennehan on June 17, 1961. She later married her husband, Raymond G. Lancto Sr., of Massena, NY on August 17, 1985. They resided on Wilson Hill in Louisville, NY, and enjoyed boating, gardening and the time they spent along the St. Lawrence River. He later predeceased her March 5, 2020.

Dolores is survived by her caring daughters, Debbie and husband, David Koes of Halfmoon, NY, and Nancy Kennehan and companion, David Bartlett of Henderson, NV, and her granddaughter, Kristina Koes of Halfmoon, NY.

Dolores was predeceased by two of her sisters, Norma Callahan and Irene Gates, as well as a brother, Reverend Rolland Hart.

Surviving are sisters, Lucille Dishaw of Gansevoort, NY and Francis Taylor of N. Syracuse, NY. Dolores also has numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews.

When Dolores married Raymond Lancto Sr. she became the stepmother to David and Susan Lancto of Bushnell, FL, Randy and Mary Lancto of Massena, NY and Mark Lancto who predeceased both his father and Dolores. Randy and his wife, Mary brought grandchildren, Angela and husband, Chad Mossow and Raymond Lancto III (who predeceased Dolores), as well as several great-grandchildren, into the family.

Dolores enjoyed traveling, visiting with family and friends, as well as taking an occasional trip to the Casino for Bingo and some slot machine play.

Her infectious laugh and welcoming smile will be missed by her family and friends.
