CANTON -- Kristin Kimball, author of the 2010 best-selling memoir “The Dirty Life: On Farming, Food, and Love,” will speak at St. Lawrence University 8 p.m. Thursday, April 5 in Sykes Residence Hall.
The event is free and open to the public. Kimball is co-owner of Essex Farm, a year-round, draft-horse-powered, 500-acre farm in the central Lake Champlain Valley. The farm produces beef, pork, chicken, eggs, milk, vegetables and grains for 170 people.
Prior to farming, the Harvard graduate worked as a freelance writer and editor. She writes for O Magazine, Adirondack Life, Vogue and Gourmet Live.
