Louisville, NY: Daniel J. “Danny” Cecot, age 67, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, after a long illness. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home, 64 Andrews St. Massena, NY. Friends and family may call on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 3PM to 6PM and Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 12PM until time of the service at 2PM at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena, with Reverend Judy Van Kennen officiating.

Danny was born in Massena, the son of the late Mabel (Mahoney) and Andrew Cecot on May 20, 1956. On March 14, 1980, he married Christine “Chris” Dywan. Danny is survived by his loving wife of 43 years; three sons, Joseph of Woodland Hills, CA, wife Rebecca, son Graham, and daughter Rose, Joshua of Corpus Christi, TX, wife Marilyn, son Maverick, and daughter Avery, and Jacob of Massena, NY; two sisters, Catherine “Cathy” Cecot of Punta Gorda, FL, and Shawna Cecot of Naples, FL, and partner Kathy Green.

Danny was passionate about his family, friends, and animals. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, motor cycling, skiing, farming, camping, boating and wood lot management. He was a builder with a creative eye as seen in his cordwood constructed home, lovingly built with help from his children, family, and friends. Once researched thoroughly there was no project he would not tackle. His charisma and quick wit were developed during his work with the public, and in his words, “Thirty Years Behind Bars”, the title of the book he did not get to write.

Danny’s spontaneous business ventures were a wonder to all. From tending bar at the Village Inn, to “Twin Maples Farm” beef cattle, to “Hemlock Farms” registered Berkshires,  to ”Highland Charters” fishing captain, along with his garlic, and maple syrup enterprise and lastly “The Guy On the Beach”, saltwater fishing lures made to order.
