North Country This Week
CANTON – Dairy Festival Days, also known as Dairy Princess Weekend, will take place June 2 and June 3. This year’s theme is “Delightfully Dairy.”
The Park Place drag strip will be bustling on Friday evening as dozens of 4-, 5- and 6-year-olds compete in the annual Big Wheels races.
The races will begin at 6 p.m. with registration set for 5:30 p.m. A block dance featuring live music will follow.
“The Big Wheel races are legendary and a perfect start to the Dairy Festival weekend,” said Tammy Mackin, executive director of the Canton Chamber of Commerce. It’s a great venue for the kids who are cheered on by family and friends.”
“Dairy festival days leave a positive impact and are well attended by our community and visitors from all over,” added Mackin.
The parade will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday and makes its way through downtown Canton. The Festival in the Park will be open from 10 a.m. to around 4 p.m. on Saturday and from around 5 p.m. to dusk on Friday.
“The parade will have more participants this year than all the other years I have been the director,” Mackin remarked. “We will also have more vendors in the park and finally a bounce house.”
Anyone interested in having a float, or marching or driving in the parade are asked to contact Mackin at (315) 386-8255 or email cantonchamberny@gmail.com as soon as possible.
The annual Future Farmers of America (FFA) chicken barbecue, along with train rides, will be offered Saturday.
