Constance "Connie" V. Ashley, 90, Massena

MASSENA -- Constance “Connie” V. Ashley, 90, of 7 Maiden Lane, peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the Massena Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Connie was born on June 12, 1933, in Malone, daughter of the late Herbert J. and Beatrice M. (Paro) Hughes.

She attended Massena schools and married Robert E. Ashley on March 15, 1952, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. J.M. Wyzzkowski officiating. Bob predeceased her on March 5, 2012.

She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and worked as a sales clerk at Levine’s Clothing Store for several years.

She was also an Elf at Santa’s Workshop and was proud of her lifetime membership.

Connie enjoyed golfing, reading, crafts, playing cards and wintering in Florida for many years.

Most of all she cherished her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Connie is survived by her two children, Michael and Gail Ashley of Massena; and Cynthia and Frank Harmon of Webster; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; her siblings, Jack Hughes and Nancy Hughes of Massena and Sallie and Terry Warren of Massena; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, Herbert and Beatrice, Connie was also predeceased by her stepfather, Francis “Hector” Cutrie; her brother, Ronald H. Hughes; and her grandson, Corey R. Ashley.

Memorial contributions in Constance’s name may be made to Macular Degeneration Foundation, Inc.

A graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery on Tuesday, May 7th at 10 AM.
