To the Editor:
The Community Lunch Program for Kids (CLPK) would like to express its sincerest appreciation to the Northern New York Community Foundation of Watertown for the $1,000 grant we recently received.
CLPK’s mission is to provide nutritious food to children (living in the Norwood Norfolk Central School District) who face food insecurity when the schools are closed and the kids don’t have the “safety net” of the free/reduced breakfast/lunch program.
In 2023, CLPK distributed almost 42,000 pounds of food from the Food Bank of CNY to local children facing food insecurity. Our program would not exist without the generosity of organizations such as NNYCF. We would just be a small group of people with big dreams of “what might have been”.
This $1,000 donation from NNYCF will be enough to purchase food for one of our ten distributions for our over 50 families (with approximately 150 children.)
We sincerely appreciate the kindness and generosity of The Northern New York Community Fund and are in awe of all the good they do for the people of the North Country.
