A four-game home stand at Cheel Arena opened with the Clarkson University Hockey team coming from behind to gain a 2-2 overtime tie with 12th-ranked Yale in ECAC Hockey action before 2,186 fans Friday night.

The Golden Knights, who are 3-1-1 over their past five games, host Brown on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Clarkson stands at 10-10-3 overall and 2-6-3 in league play.

The Knights, who outshot Yale (10-4-4, 5-3-3) 33-23, got goals from sophomore Brett Gervais and senior Pat Megannety. Senior Greg Lewis, making his fifth consecutive start in the Clarkson crease, posted 21 saves.

Trailing 2-1 after 40 minutes, Clarkson rallied back to tie the score midway through the third period. At 12:06, Megannety took a pass from the left wing by sophomore Sam Vigneault and connected from the top of the crease for his fourth goal of the season. Senior defenseman Paul Geiger also assisted. The Green and Gold, who outshot Yale, 16-3 in the third period, had an excellent opportunity to gain the victory when they went on the power-play with 1:50 remaining in regulation. The Knights, however, could not convert against the nation's second-ranked penalty-killing unit.

In a fast-pace opening 20 minutes, Clarkson and Yale each registered 10 shots and one goal. The Knights struck first when Gervais and junior Jordan Boucher broke behind the Bulldogs' defense for a 2-on-1. Gervais fed a pass to Boucher in front where his shot was stop by Yale goaltender Alex Lyon. Gervais followed up the play and knocked in the rebound for his third goal of the year at 7:54. Yale evened the score at 14:05 on the power play when Nate Repensky one-timed a pass from Stu Wilson in the high slot for his first tally of the season. Lyon also assisted.

The Bulldogs took the lead just 11 seconds into the middle frame, capitalizing on a Clarkson misplay behind the net. Carson Cooper beat Lewis to a loose puck in the corner and fed a pass out to John Hayden who put the puck over the goal line before Lewis could recover.

Clarkson went scoreless on three power-play opportunities, while Yale was 1-of-4 with the man-advantage.

Lyon finished with 31 saves to help the Bulldogs extend their unbeaten streak to seven games (5-0-2), including six games that have been decided by one goal-or-less.

Clarkson, which plays seven of its remaining 11 games at home, is 7-1-2 at Cheel this season.
