Only a week back into the 2011-12 schedule, the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team saw two of its members, Marques Charlton (Deer Park, NY) and John Coleman (Potsdam, NY), earn Liberty League Weekly Performer honors on Monday.
Charlton, who was chosen to the NYU Holiday Classic All-Tournament team, gained Liberty League Performer of the Week honors with three other players. The sophomore guard averaged 14.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game over the course of two games. He shot 52.6 percent from the field, including a 4-for-5 performance from beyond the 3-point arc. Charlton currently ranks in the top 50 in the nation in assists per game.
Coleman was named Liberty League Rookie of the Week for the third time this season as he averaged 15.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game over the course of the NYU Tournament. He also contributed 2.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game, shooting 62.5 percent from the floor. Coleman is currently ranked sixth in the country in field-goal percentage, shooting 66.7 percent from the floor (60-for-90).
