Updated 12:45 p.m. Feb. 23 to clarify which portion of the business is under new owners
POTSDAM -- CJ’s Bottle & Can Retrieval Center, formerly CJ’s Redemption Center, is under new ownership.
CJ's Kegs, Cases and More will remain under the same owners, Steve and Kathy Warr and John Fries.
Now under the auspices of Bottle & Can Retrieval Centers Inc., a recycling company with a chain of more than 35 stores in the northeast, CJ’s intends to maintain the same staff. The location, 145 1/2 Market St., will stay the same as well.
“Planned positive changes include a cleaner and more efficient sorting process,” according to a news release.
The store also will offer more customer promotions, such as 6-cent returns with student ID, and a store loyalty program featuring 7-cent returns.
Under B & C Retrieval, CJ’s will also offer recycling fundraising opportunities for various community organizations. Log on to http://bottleandcanrc.com/fundraising/ for more information.
The store is teamed up with organizations such as American Cancer Society and Susan G. Komen’s Race for the Cure to raise money towards their goals. Customers can donate part or all of their returns at any time to these organizations.
