Chair yoga, meditation

OGDENSBURG --- Maple City Yoga, 800 State St., will host chair yoga and meditation on April 23 at 6 p.m.

In this 30-minute sequence, students will move the spine in its 6 directions, practice 3-part yogic breathing, and then spend 10-15 minutes following the breath in a gentle meditation.

Benefits of chair yoga for office workers include improved posture, reduced muscle tension & stiffness, enhanced circulation, increased energy levels and stress relief.

For seniors it provides improved flexibility, strength, balance and posture, increase mobility, falls prevention and enhancing quality of life

For individuals with stress benefits are activation of the relaxation response, release of feel-good hormones, improved mind-body connection, and ncreased mindfulness and present moment awareness.
