MASSENA – St. Lawrence County fire investigators are attempting to determine the cause of a blaze that caused minor damage to the historical First Baptist Church Saturday.
The Massena Fire Department and Rescue Squad responded at 5:09 p.m. to the building constructed in 1859 at 93 Main St. The Louisville Fire Department provided mutual aid.
No injuries were reported and fire investigators did not immediately know the owner of the property.
Massena firefighters returned to the station at 8:38 p.m.
The vacant church is scheduled to be demolished soon.
