Carolyn R. Corcoran, 65, Potsdam


POTSDAM -- Carolyn R. Corcoran, age 65, passed away at her home on March 20, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.

Friends and family may be received on Sunday, April 14, 2024, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 11:00 am at Phillips Memorial Home in Massena, NY.

The burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Massena following the funeral services.

Carolyn was born on September 25, 1958, in Massena, the daughter of James E. and Muriel (Paquin) Corcoran.

She attended Holy Family High School and graduated from Massena Central High School in 1976.

Carolyn was an Assistant Financial Aid Director working for several SUNY colleges, including SUNY Canton, Potsdam, and Plattsburgh, along with St. Joseph's College in Rutland, VT, and VSAC in Burlington, VT.

As a well-respected member of the collegiate financial aid community, Carolyn received the 2021 NYSFAA Region 8 Service Award. She was compassionate in guiding students regarding financial assistance programs over the forty years of her career.

Carolyn is survived by her siblings: Michael and Racheal of Chittenango, NY; John and Tina of Lancaster, NY: Jeanne Corcoran of Colton, NY: Margaret and Daniel Sweeney of Canton, NY, and Kathleen Corcoran of Brunswick, Maine. Nieces and nephews: Ryan and Devin, Eric and Marissa, Nichole and Sean Kelly, Erin and Adam Catanzarite, Meghan and Ben Wolf, Rory and Caroline (Finnegan) Corcoran, Maureen Sweeney, Patrick and Kelsey Sweeney; Katherine Sweeney and Max Alberty; and several great nieces and nephews.

Carolyn enjoyed traveling, playing tennis, and spending time with her family.

Carolyn enjoyed watching her nieces and nephews play their respective sports and loved traveling to Maine for shopping, seafood and walking on the beach.

She was an avid baseball and hockey fan, especially of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins.
