Canton Recreation Department to hold second annual Used Equipment Sale

CANTON – Are you looking to purchase some used recreation equipment? Or maybe looking to get rid of some of your sports gear?

The Canton Recreation Department will hold its second annual used sports gear sale in conjunction with a craft fair sponsored by the Canton Day Care Center on June 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Canton Pavilion, 90 Lincoln St.

Last year’s sale generated $2,348.

“That money will be used to purchase recreation equipment for a new summer program this year hosted at the Pavilion and Bend in the River Park,” said Canton Recreation Director Meghan Richardson. “Additional details about the program will be published shortly as we finalize logistics but essentially the Pavilion will be converted into a Recreation Community Center for community members of all ages to enjoy.”

Richardson hopes for another popular event this year.

“Last year's sale was very successful. We rehomed about 80 percent of the equipment that was donated,” Richardson noted.

The Recreation Department is currently accepting donations from the public. Examples of items needed include lacrosse sticks, helmets, fishing poles, kayaks, bicycles, snowshoes, shin guards, cleats, basketballs, rollerblades, soccer balls, water skis, ice skates, and baseball and softball equipment.

Items can be dropped off through June 2 at the Canton Pavilion or left outside the double garage doors. Please bag items that need protection from the weather.

Items that are too large for delivery can be picked up through June 2 by calling (315) 386-3992 to make arrangements.

The event is sponsored by Grasse River Real Estate and admission is free.
