CANTON -- Canton Recreation Department begins a kayak rental program at Taylor Park beginning July 1.
Kayaks can be rented for $5 for two hours for use in a designated area on the Grasse River upstream from Outer Miner Street’s Taylor Park and part of the original Rushton Canoe Race course.
The program is made possible through Canton Village Board member MaryAnn Ashley who used her annual board salary to purchase six kayaks with paddles and 10 personal floatation devices in various sizes.
Paddlers under 14 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian or other adult designated by the parent or guardian. Users ages 14 to 17 must have the signed permission of a parent or guardian. All users must sign and abide by the terms of a rental agreement and be able to swim.
To reserve a kayak, call 386-2581 during park hours, 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
