MASSENA — The recreation department in Massena had a busy summer but officials say the department won’t be slowing down anytime soon.
With the conclusion of summer activities, officials say the beach has been closed for the season.
Village Trustees offered an update during the board’s Sept. 20 meeting.
“The recreation department closed the beach and picked everything up during Labor Day weekend,” Trustee Christine Winston said.
Trustees also said the youth summer soccer program was a huge hit, seeing another rise in participants this year as well, breaking 500 players.
“That was up around 30 kids compared to last year, so the soccer program is even more popular,” Winston said.
The recreation department will also begin putting ice down in the arena on Oct. 1., with rentals expected to be available on Oct. 3.
