MASSENA -- The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will begin installing docks and buoys along the St. Lawrence River in the vicinity of its St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project the week of April 23.
The first docks to be installed will be at the Hawkins Point Visitors Center and boat launch. The process to have all docks in place is expected to take about two weeks, but is dependent on the weather and river conditions, NYPA officials said.
Other docks in Massena will be installed at the intake and country club, and buoys in the south channel.
In Waddington, docks will be installed at Whittaker and Howard parks and buoys at the old milk factory.
All the docks and buoys are scheduled to be removed in the fall, depending on weather and river conditions. The fall removal is timed so the docks are removed before heavy frost or ice creates unsafe conditions for workers and the boating public. NYPA officials said they will notify the media and the general public in advance of the work.
