MALONE — A boating safety class will be offered on May 21 and 23, from 4:45 to 9 p.m. each night, at the Malone Fish and Game Club, Webster St. Rd. Participants need to attend both classes and pass a test at the end. Cost is $35 per person. Call 518-483-5073 with any questions. Minimum age to take the class is 10 years old. The boater’s certificate is valid in all 50 states. All personal watercraft operators must complete a boating safety course and those boat operators born on or after Jan. 1, 1978 must complete a safety course beginning in 2024. The requirement would extend to all motor boat operators beginning in 2025, regardless of age. Failure to comply could result in a fine of between $100 and $250 under the new law that went into effect Jan. 1, 2020.
