POTSDAM – The workshop “Beginning Ukulele: Take It From the Top!” with Kevin Marcinko will be offered at SLC Arts in Old Snell Hall off Elm Street, on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 1-3 p.m.
The 2-hour course is for ages 10 and older and geared for absolute beginners to the ukulele.
Instruction will start with how to hold and strum the uke and then move on to some basic chords, mixing in some basic music theory that will make learning songs fun and easy.
Everything will be learned by ear, so students don’t need to know how to read music.
Participants will leave with a good foundation to start learning and practicing songs on their own.
Attendees are asked to bring their own ukulele, but two will be available for loan.
Pre-registration is required at slcartscouncil.org or by calling 315-265-6860.
