Two years ago the student newspaper at SUNY Potsdam did a front page story about the Bay Street entrance to campus being both handicap inaccessible and dangerous. The following summer the curbs were redone in five spots on the Bay Street entrance, and were left handicapped inaccessible. This summer the sidewalk was redone at the same entrance, and was again left handicapped inaccessible. Considering this is directly out the window of SUNY Potsdam’s president’s office, I am asking him to look down for a minute and pay attention. If he wants to give himself a nice raise during the state’s financial crisis, we should expect basic competence. Wheelchair-using folks have to roll in the street, and it will he his fault if someone gets hurt.
