OGDENSBURG – With summer set to kick off soon Ogdensburg’ Parks and Recreation Department is  accepting registrations for its 2024 Summer Youth Sports Camps. 

This year the city is offering camps for track and field, baseball, cheer, soccer, tumbling, basketball, softball, lacrosse, volleyball and wrestling.

Sign-ups are at the City Hall 330 Ford Street, Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., via mail to the Recreation Department or placed in the Drop Off Box within the building at City Hall on Caroline Street.

City officials say all  youth must be signed-up and registered before they are allowed to participate in any Parks and Recreation Department sponsored sports camp.

Cost for each camp is $30. 

2024 Sports Camps 

TRACK & FIELD: July 8 - 12 (Grades 1- 6: 9:00 a.m.- 10:30 a.m.OFA Track Coach, John Tebo will conduct a track camp for boys and girls grades 1 - 6. Activities include: high and long jump, shot put, discus, hurdles and relays. Camp to be held at OFA track. Registration deadline date: 6/26/24

BASEBALL: July 8 - 12 (Grades K - 2: 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. (Grades 3 - 6: 2:15 - 3:15 p.m.)OFA Coach Brooks Brenno will conduct a baseball camp for boys and girls grades K-6. This camp will stress development of hitting, field-ing and pitching. Camp to be held at Montroy Park. Equipment Required: Glove (Bats and helmets optional) Registration deadline date: 6/26/24

CHEER CAMP: July 15-19 (Ages 4-7: 1:00 p.m.- 2:15 p.m. (Ages 8-12: 2:15 p.m.- 3:30 p.m.OFA Coach, Tori Peabody will conduct Cheer Camp for boys and girls ages 4 -12. Training includes cheers, dances, jumps, stunts, and gymnastics. Camp to be held at the Lockwood Arena. Registration deadline date: 7/1/24

SOCCER: July 15-19 (K-2: 9:00 a.m.- 10:00 a.m.(Grades 3-6: 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. Matthew Shollett will offer instruction in all phases of soccer for boys and girls grades K-6 to enhance skills through small group instruction. Camp to be held at Father Martin Field. Registration deadline date: 7/1/24

TUMBLING: July 22-26 (Ages 4-6: 1:00 p.m.- 2:15 p.m. (Ages 7-12: 2:15 p.m.- 3:30 p.m.Jackie Pinkerton will conduct gymnastics for boys and girls ages 4-12. Activities include: balance beam, spring board and floor exercise. Camp to be held at Lockwood Arena. Registration deadline date: 7/8/24

BASKETBALL: July 22 - 26 (K-2: 9 a.m.-10 a.m.(Grades 3-6: 10 a.m.- 11 a.m. OFA Girls Basketball Coach, Shannon LaFave, will conduct basketball camp for boys and girls grades K-6. Activities will include skills development: passing, dribbling, and shooting. Intramural games will be played. Camp to be held at the outdoor courts in Morissette Park. Registration deadline date: 7/8/24

SOFTBALL: August 5 - 9 (Equipment Required: Glove) Grades 1-4: 9:00 a.m.- 10:00 a.m.(Grades 5-6: 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m.SUNY Potsdam Head Softball Coach, Brianna Ferchen, will conduct a Softball camp for boys and girls grades 1 - 6 . This camp will stress development of hitting, fielding and pitching. Camp to be held at Montroy Park. Registration deadline date: 7/22/24

LACROSSE: July 8 - 12 (Equipment required: lacrosse stick) 9:00 a.m.- 10:30 a.m.SUNY Potsdam player Drew Castello and SUNY Plattsburgh play Dylin Irvine will conduct lacrosse camp for boys and girls ages 6-12. Training will include passing, catching, defense, and goaltending. Camp to be held at Father Martin. Registration deadline date: 6/26/24

VOLLEYBALL: August 12 - 16 (Grades 3-6: 3:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. Elizabeth Testani will conduct volleyball camp for boys and girls grades 3 - 6. This camp will introduce the fundamentals of player formation, passing, receiving, setting, hitting and service. Camp to be held at Caroline Street courts. Registration deadline date: 8/5/24

WRESTLING CAMP: July 8 - 15( Ages 5-18: 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. $30.00 FeeCoach Ricky Ledwith will conduct a wrestling camp at Lockwood Civic Center. No experience or equipment required. All profits will benefit the OFA Wrestling Program. Sign ups will be Monday July 15 at 5:30 p.m.at Lockwood Civic Center. Please contact Ricky at 315.869.3318 to sign up.
