DEKALB -- New York State Police are investigating an accident that killed a 22-year-old Fowler woman Tuesday and have scheduled an autopsy later today.
Troopers identified the deceased as Amber L. Mote.
According to troopers, a 2006 Dodge Charger operated by 20 year-old Logan M. McCollum of Gouverneur was northbound on State Route 11, when McCollum failed to observe a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier operated by Mote stopped in the northbound lane, waiting to make a left turn
McCollum was unable to avoid striking the rear of Mote's vehicle.
Mote was pronounced dead at the scene and St. Lawrence County Coroner Joseph White authorized removal of her body.
Rossie and Dekalb Fire Departments assisted state police at the scene.
State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Canton, Troop B Collision Reconstruction, and the St. Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the accident.
An autopsy is scheduled for today at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
