An Open Letter to the Blake Gendebein for NY-21 Campaign

To the Editor:

I noticed the recent arrival of what I am certain is only the beginning of surrogate support letters for Mr. Gendebein (unsurprisingly) published by this publication. And that’s okay.

As a lifelong registered Republican whom always votes independent, I look forward to his campaign, as my vote is always in play.

But I am concerned from what I have seen (or perhaps more aptly not seen) thus far in regards to strategy.

In an interview that Mr. Gendebein recently gave, he all but came out professing that he and his campaign have no plans to go “negative”, so to speak, regardless of what his opponent, Mr. Anthony Constantino and his campaign may do or say.

(Sigh)

I have many issues with the Democratic Party, which is why I could personally never entertain the thought of ever switching and actually becoming one. At the top of that list of issues, and please forgive me for generalizing and stating so, they do not strike me as being particularly adept at self-reflection and self-examination.

Anyone else recall how the entire, “When they go low, we go high” actually worked out for your party historically? And due to my own background, I know the likes of Mr. Constantino very well. Not unlike Trump himself, he is both a chameleon, and a natural attack dog.

Mr. Gendebein seems to me a genuinely nice person and good guy whom would most likely represent NY-21 well. Hard working. Local. Caring. I do get that.

But he needs to actually get elected first.

I would embolden the Gendebein Campaign rather than employing a strategy of going “nice” to proverbially “grow a pair” if they wish to increase chances of election success.

For example, I would suggest for them to go back and watch this past year’s Golden Globe Awards, Grammy Awards, and/or Academy Awards.

See what those folks are doing?

Right. Just don’t do that.
