POTSDAM – All 200 Potsdam Central School District Band students, grades 4-12, will perform at the once-every-three-years Band Night Wednesday, March 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the Potsdam High School Gymnasium.
The audience is treated to music by each group individually, starting with the 4th grade band, directed by Jill Rubio, followed by the 5th-6th grade band, and the 7th-8th grade band, also directed by Ms. Rubio.
Next on the program are the High School Concert Band and Wind Ensemble, directed by Theresa Witmer.
The “Grand Finale” is a combined band that features all of the young musicians together. Students of all ages will sit side by side to perform Mussorgsky’s dramatic Great Gate of Kiev, arranged by Kenneth Henderson.
Older students get to “relive” their early days of band and note how far they have come. Younger band members get a chance to “see the future” and feel the inspiration to continue to work diligently.
Admission is free.
