Alexander Walter ("Dino") DeLorenzo, 83, Norfolk

NORFOLK -- Alexander Walter (“Dino”) DeLorenzo, 83 of Norfolk, NY, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side. 

He was predeceased in July by his wife, Francine Rouleau, of 47 years. 

He is survived by his seven children, Daniel and Janet (Sullivan) McCormack, Landcaster, PA; Sandra and Tom Bonaldi, Nutley, NJ; Rosanne DeLorenzo, Plattsburgh, NY; Claudine McCormack, Vestal, NY; Dana and Zarrieff Jones, Parsippany, NJ; Peter DeLorenzo, Potsdam, NY and Philip DeLorenzo, Redding, CA; his beloved 11 grandchildren, Melissa, Heather, Nathaniel, Luc, Max, Annabelle, Gabriella, Joseph, Jacqueline, Mark, and Jada, along with 11 great-grandchildren, Lucy, Luca, Lola, Liam, Anna, Olivia, Vincent, Nicolas, Antonio, Sariah, and Aria.

Alexander was predeceased by his parents, Demetrio (Thomas) and Annunziata (Nancy); his siblings, Dimetrio (Sonny), Joseph, Marie Morro, and twin sister, Anna Grace Burrow.

Alexander was born in Passaic, NJ on January 11, 1940, and raised in Nutley, NJ. 

He served in the US Air Force from 1957 to 1963. 

He married Catherine Ann Derra in 1963 and later married Francine Marie Rouleau on September 3, 1976. 

He was a devoted father and husband.

A mason by trade, he retired from NY State Parks at Robert Moses State Park in Massena, NY. 

He was a self-taught musician and country music singer. He was a prolific songwriter, writing lyrics and music for over 1,000 songs.

He was involved in numerous churches and related organizations including prison ministry and the North Country Fiddlers Association. 

Alexander was well-known for his strong faith in Jesus, love of country music, country life, and compassion for others.

His grandchildren will miss going fishin’ with Grandpa.

Had he wrote this himself, he would end with: “Jesus said unto him, ‘Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.’” Matthew 22.37.

Family and friends will be received at the Sheetz Funeral Home, Mary Reich Sheetz Chapel, 6 East Main Street, Mount Joy (Entrance and Parking are in the rear) on Friday, December 15, 2023, from 10 AM to 2 PM.
