OGDENSBURG — The Ogdensburg History Museum held a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce Tuesday evening in The Blevins Building at 206 Ford St.
Many people toured the facility, enjoyed refreshments and became members of the Ogdensburg History Museum.
City Historian and Museum President Julie Madlin was delighted with the turnout and the support of the community. “It is great to see this museum open. We now have a physical place for the museum that has been talked about for 40 years.”
County legislator Jim Reagen, a local history author and Vice President of the Museum board stated, "We are very grateful to Lynn Blevins and the Blevins Family. The museum would not have been possible If it were not for their help and generosity. Also, we have been very pleased with the outpouring of support for the museum from the community. They have helped us tell the story of Ogdensburg."
Lynn Blevins, owner of Blevins Building, was on hand to show his support. “The success of this project is to be credited to Julie and the museum board. Ogdensburg is our home, and we give back to the community whenever we can. The Blevins family has made a significant contribution to make the museum possible."
The Ogdensburg History Museum board of directors include Julie Madlin, President, Jim Reagen, Vice President, Penny Kerfien, Secretary, Matt Hurteau, Treasurer, Lance Rudiger, Vivian Roach, Jennifer Stevenson, Ann Lesperance and Laura Pearson, Executive Director of the Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce.
The museum is currently seeking support from the community through membership, donations and volunteer support.
