“Within half an hour, everything was all set up. Hospice was right there; they didn’t miss a beat.”
This was the response Alex*, a local caregiver of a hospice patient, gave when asked about what it was like working with hospice from the moment the patient came home.
They have seen firsthand the expert, compassionate, and professional care that begins right from day one.
As for the advice Alex would give other caregivers considering contacting Hospice for help, she says, “Don’t be afraid to call Hospice. Don’t hesitate one bit.”
Having the support of hospice nurses, home health aides, social workers, a spiritual care coordinator, and volunteers has made this end-of-life journey one on which they’ve never felt alone.

Sam*, the hospice patient, has experienced the whole hospice team in action as well. “The team has been wonderful. Truly exceptional.
Their goal isn’t to rush anything but to help me get the things done that still matter to me.”
Sam has benefited from the skilled care of each member of the team and has learned that, in addition to their tasks, they take the time to listen and truly get to know their patients.
Both Alex and Sam have learned “how much better life will be with” hospice.
Having 24/7 emergency support from a nurse who is able to come right to the home, if needed, brings peace of mind to caregivers and patients alike.
This experience has allowed them to feel fully supported and given them time to focus on making the most of the time they have left with each other.
When a patient chooses Hospice, they’re choosing support and guidance for their caregivers as well as themselves.
They’re choosing to experience end-of-life care at home, where they feel most comfortable. They’re also choosing to have grief support offered to their family and caregivers for a year after they’re gone.
